Hi everyone, I'm Nick!

I’m the co-founder of one of the leading travel blogs online, Goats On The Road, but also the founder of other successful online businesses. I’ve been blogging and running businesses online for nearly a decade. At first, my goals were to simply grow Goats On The Road, but after receiving countless emails telling my wife Dariece and I that our blog had inspired other people to quit their jobs and travel full-time, everything changed.

I quickly realized that I could do more than just inspire people to travel. I could help people to completely change their lives by simply following what we did with our blog.

I couldn’t stand my job in Canada. I worked 12 hours per day on the oil rigs and while the money was great, it wasn’t a rewarding job and I had hardly any time to myself or to spend with Dariece.

After quitting our jobs and hitting the road, we built Goats On The Road to the point that it earned more money than our jobs in Canada ever did. The difference was, we were having a blast as bloggers! We were travelling the world, meeting new people, tasting new foods, and earning a living all while only spending about 10-15 hours per week on our laptops!

I decided that if I could help just one person to quit a job they hate to follow their passion, my life would have purpose. Fast forward nearly 10 years and we’ve helped thousands of people start new blogs and we’re on a mission to help 25,000 people to quit their jobs and earn a better income online working from anywhere in the world, and working just a fraction of the time.

I don't trust online courses either.

It has to be said. We have also been duped by online courses that promised the world but simply didn’t deliver. Not just once, but many times.

But I’ve used the failures of other course creators and my own mistakes in purchasing them to ensure that any training we give is fast, actionable, easy to follow and most importantly, effective.

Blogging ain't easy.

No. This isn’t a get rich quick scheme. I hate those and so should you. Blogging isn’t a way to make a million dollars over night. I’m sorry but those types of promises are what makes the internet such a difficult landscape to navigate.

If you want the truth, take it from me. I’ve built multiple websites into passive income earning machines. When you first start out, you have to put in the time and the effort, but the payoffs are worth it every single time.

On my latest site project, I spent around 20 hours per week working on the site and after 3 months it earned over $100 and after 5 months it was earning $500 per month and growing (learn more about this case study in the free training).

The fact is, there are nearly 10,000 new blogs started every day. And guess what, studies show that less than 10% of those bloggers make any money from their blogs. Why? Because they simply write about their stories and never give any real thought about SEO, content marketing or internal link structures.

Guess what… even if you have no idea what those last things mean, it doesn’t matter. It doesn’t take a brain surgeon to follow a step-by-step formula and if we can do it, so can you. We started Goats On The Road without even knowing what WordPress was. At that time, the idea of blogging was still new, let alone making money from it.

Yet, even with no prior experience and not being tech savvy, we made money from our blog after 5 months and after a year, it was making enough to pay for our travels. These days, using my Content Crush Strategy and my Spider Web Site Hack, it’s easier to grow a website into an income earning machine much faster than that.

From a hobby to a full-time business.

At first, we were just making money on our blog through some sponsored trips and direct advertising partnerships with different brands that paid us a monthly fee to put a “banner ad” sidebar on our site.

We quickly realized that even though it was awesome to get paid for having a small image on our blog, and getting flown around the world for free was cool, we weren’t earning enough to really live a comfortable life. We were making enough to be budget backpackers, but if we were going to do this full-time, we wanted to be able to live a similar life to what we did when we were making good money in Canada.

So, we got into affiliates.

At first we failed. Massively.

We thought that if we just added a bunch of affiliate links to our site, we’d make money right away. Affiliate links work by tracking when readers click them and if the reader ended up buying the product or paying for the service, we’d get a commission. Seems like a no brainer right?!

But it wasn’t. It turns out there’s a lot more to earning money from affiliates than just putting links all over your site. This is where so many bloggers fail. They simply add a bunch of affiliate links to existing posts and prey that they make a sale.

We started optimizing our affiliate pages for conversions and coupled that with an internal site structure that meant our blog shot to the top of Google for lucrative search terms. This meant that when people were searching terms like “Hotels in Phuket” we were showing up near the top. When a person searches that in Google, they’re ready to make a purchase. And the income showed that was exactly what they were doing.

We start making passive income.

Once we cracked the code of getting rankings in Google for lucrative keywords and for optimizing each page so that our readers trusted us and were more inclined to book, we started seeing income coming in. The best part about affiliate income is that it’s totally passive. Once you’ve built the pages and optimized them, they will earn money while you’re sleeping.

Slowly our income went up. We went from $2,000/month to $5,000/month. Then from $5,000 to $10,000. Then from $10,000 to $20,000. Then $20,000-$30,000. You see where this is going?

At this point we were over the moon! We knew we had a special formula on our hands, and we wanted to share it.

Let's show the world with a course!

We were so happy to be making good money from our blog that we felt we would be doing the travel community a disservice if we didn’t share what we had learned. The problem was, we had only done it once.

I quickly realized that growing a website that’s already been around for a few years is a lot different than growing a brand new site to the point that it can earn money. The course sold very well and I was happy to see my students having success, but a lot of what I was teaching them was based on how I did it with Goats On The Road, a blog that had over 500 live pages and had been around for 5 years already.

Something wasn’t right.

The course was doing well and people were able to design professional looking blogs and some of the students even earned enough money to quit their jobs. But it was taking too long. Why? Because I was sharing strategies that work for established websites, not for brand new blogs. It turns out, almost every single course creator online seems to be making the same mistake.

I did some courses myself.

I decided that if I was going to build the best training possible, I needed to learn how to be a presenter myself. So I started purchasing courses from some of my “competitors” in the industry. But guest what? None of them had actually built another site either! They had all just built one big website and grown it to 6-figures or more, and then tried to teach their students how to do the same with new blogs.

Their students were disappointed that the strategies and methods weren’t always working. Of course they weren’t! These were strategies that would only work on a blog that has grown in authority. Brand new websites would never be able to rank for these keywords or get the same success.

It was time to walk the walk.

After realizing the flaw in most online courses, I decided it was time that I started my own blog from scratch. I bought a domain, but my work on Goats On The Road on hold and started working on a brand new website myself.

At first it was slow going. I was worried that my strategies too weren’t working. But then I realized what I had learned from the failed courses that I had taken. I needed to shift the strategies based on the authority of the blog that I was working on. This site wasn’t Goats On The Road. It was brand new.

Once I shifted my strategies and came up with the Spider Web site hack and the Content Crush strategy for new sites it exploded. I was growing by 300% every month and after just 3 months, I had made $100 and after 5 months, the site was doing $500 / month and still growing.

My students were so happy to see the new strategies working for them too! Now we have something special. Now we have a community of people growing blogs that are already successful, and brand new websites and we’re all seeing massive growth. This is life changing stuff.

Blogging Nomads is born.

With thousands of students in the course learning the amazing strategies that Dariece and I hacked, we decided that the course had outgrown it’s platform and it was time to make it a website on it’s own.

With Blogging Nomads, we have a place for our community to come, learn, grow and share. I’m so happy to have this amazing group of blogging professionals and seeing people succeed using these same methods has given new life to my blogging journey.

This is why I love it.

Honestly, starting a blog and learning this incredible skill was the best decision that Dariece and I ever made. Now that we’re able to share our years of knowledge with other people, we have found a new passion in life.

Seeing comments from our students about how they tripled their income in blogging, or how they quit their jobs to be home with their kids or to travel full time… this is our new motivator. This is what keeps us on our computers and in this community. We love it.
